I've been reading all sorts of misinformation about NHS waiting lists on American sites. It seems that the anti-Obama lobby is determined to scare their fellow citizens into rejecting his health reforms.
The usual story is that here in the UK we have to wait between 18 months and 2 years for a hip replacement. Ho hum what rubbish. For both my hip and my knee I've been offered a wait time of between 3 - 4 months. The hip I had done exactly 3.5 months after I agreed to the op and the knee I turned down as being way too soon. (I'd tried to turn down the hip one as well as didn't feel ready but the surgeon advised me to go ahead because of the condition of my joint.) So much for long NHS waiting lists.
It seems to me that we get the best of both worlds.
I know times are going to be very hard for the NHS in the future but let's hang on to the brilliant service we've got. One that ensures that all our citizens get treated.
I should mention one other similarity about these bloggers and that is that they either don't allow any comments on their site or reject ones that challenge their views.
I'd love to hear your views on this - especially any American readers.
Apart from thinking about waiting lists and health reforms my life has just been ticking over. I've been kayaking again. Love it! It is hard to get in and out of the boat but its great fun once I'm out on the water.
The joints are all behaving themselves. Can this really just be down to starting the exercises up again? I'm playing around with exercise charts and when I find one that works for me I'll share it with you.
I'm also looking to get some of those ankle weights to make the exercises a little harder - but no need to rush into that :)
I haven't been able to set up the exercise pages on the site as my artist's computer crashed but hopefully they'll be up my next Friday.
