Well last week wasn’t a particular productive one. In fact I got so caught up with other stuff that I even forgot to post my weekly update. So here it is albeit a bit late - for which my apologies.
The New Look
I have now received all the files for the new site template but am having problems uploading it. There is a test page up, so you can have a sneak preview there. I really hope you like it. There’s a stack of work to do but I think it’s a great design and am very pleased I broke open the piggy bank and got a professional to do it rather than plodding on myself.
De Puy – not much news here either
The hip replacement world has been pretty quiet
this week. More of the same sorts of stories about the DePuy recall. Hopefully by now all the patients who may be affected have been contacted by their surgeon and a review booked in. This is certainly going to be one big class action with patients affected from all over the world.
Abseiling – some news but nothing to do with hip replacements
Well I did it and here’s the picture to prove it!
I’m not sure why I’m quite so red in the face. Terror possibly? I found as long as I didn’t look down I was fine. Best not to think about the 35 storeys of empty space beneath my feet.
We raised well over £1000 for the charity (Links-India so we’re all pretty chuffed with that. I’m flying to India on Thursday to deliver some of the cash to the projects we support and talk to people about our new work with Tibetan ex-political prisoners.
Thanks to all of those who donated so generously – for those of you who kept meaning to but never quite got round to it there’s still time – here’s a quick link to my justgiving page There is going to be another abseil in the spring if you’re interested in joining in.
Hip Replacement Stamp
Last week I mentioned that a new stamp had been issued to commemorate different advances in medicine and that Sir John Charnley was honoured on the 60p stamp but I forgot to add in the picture oops here it is.
A passage to India
As I said I’ll be in India from Thursday. Probably staying for about 20 days give or take a few and hope to find some quiet time to add a few more pages and sort out what’s going wrong with the new look.
